HCF Leader Assumes Larger Position Within the Central Kansas Community Foundation Network

Chad Hughbanks stepped into leadership of the Hillsboro Community Foundation in October 2024 after nearly five years of volunteer service. As Associate Director, he partnered closely with board members, donors, city leaders, and local organizations to strengthen long term charitable resources for Hillsboro. Chad is known for a collaborative and relationship centered leadership style. He brings people together, listens well, and creates space for shared problem solving. His approach helped modernize internal systems, expand awareness of endowment giving, and support community projects that reflect the mission of HCF.

Key HCF highlights in the last two years include:

  • Surpass $4,000,000 in total assets with $3,000,000 held in permanent endowment.
  • 25% total asset growth and 30% endowment asset growth
  • Increase HCF’s permanent annual grant capacity by $50,000
  • Cumulative scholarship awards increased by 40%
  • Establish the first dedicated office space at 501 S. Main St.

The Central Kansas Community Foundation network is a collaboration of 18 community foundations across the heart of the state, including the Hillsboro Community Foundation. The work Chad led in Hillsboro can act as a guide of influence for other communities across the region. His style of partnership building, transparent communication, and steady guidance supports other affiliates as they continue work to grow local philanthropy and build long term sustainability.

Chad will become the new Director of Affiliate Relations for CKCF. He transitions into this regional leadership role following his service as Associate Director of the Hillsboro Community Foundation.

In this new position, Chad will work directly with affiliate foundations throughout the CKCF service area. His responsibilities will include supporting board development, guiding strategic planning efforts, strengthening donor and community relationships, and helping affiliates build strong and lasting charitable resources. His collaborative leadership style will continue to support teams in making thoughtful decisions and aligning their work with the needs of their communities.

The Hillsboro Community Foundation office will remain open for local donor support, and Chad will continue overseeing daily operations until a new local director is selected. Community members are welcome to reach out by calling 620-947-0170 or by visiting the office at 501 S. Main St.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our region in this new capacity. My time with the Hillsboro Community Foundation has shaped my understanding of what strong community leadership looks like. I look forward to supporting each affiliate as they continue to serve their communities.
