2024 September Match Event
Thank you for your support!
Scholarships are more than just financial aid; they represent hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for students and for our community. The Hillsboro Community Foundation is committed to helping students achieve their dreams and build for the future by giving donors the opportunity to provide financial support.
HCF donors have awarded $130,000 in scholarships to support higher education opportunities over the past 13 years. Eleven scholarship funds have been established to date with current endowment assets of $450,000.
The Dollars 4 Scholars campaign is an opportunity to grow these scholarship assets with the help of a $70,000 matching grant from the Patterson Family Foundation. This in turn will increase endowment earnings and the dollar amount of scholarship awards that can be given out to graduating students each year.
The goal of the Match Event is to raise $70,000 in scholarship donations, which the matching grant will then double for a total of $140,000 in new contributions. The eleven scholarship funds will each receive a $5,000 match from the grant, with the remaining $15,000 match applied to the HCF operating fund.
In 2024, the HCF Scholarship Funds awarded 14 scholarships for a total of $16,200. A successful campaign will increase the total to around $22,000 per year, and more if the $70,000 target is exceeded.
Online donations may be made using the Donate button listed below for each scholarship fund. Check donations should be made out to Hillsboro Community Foundation with the fund specified in the memo field. Checks may be mailed to P.O Box 273, dropped off at HCF’s table downtown during Cruise Night on September 14th, or delivered to any HCF board member. Donations must be received by September 30th to be eligible for the match.
How the Match Works
- Donate to a scholarship fund of your choice. Or just donate to the scholarship campaign and HCF will assign your donation to a fund on your behalf.
- Donations to each scholarship fund are matched by a Patterson Family Foundation grant up to $5,000 per fund, doubling the contribution amount to a total of $10,000.
- Donations to a scholarship fund above the $5,000 match threshold are applied to the fund as specified. These donations are also matched, with the match portion applied to other scholarship funds until $55,000 of the matching grant is allocated evenly across all eleven scholarship funds.
- The remaining $15,000 of the matching grant is then allocated to the HCF Operating Fund for ongoing development and promotional purposes.
